Storytelling with Veronica Gaillard

Veronica Gaillard: To educate, to preserve the Gullah culture, to protect the African American South Carolina heritage: through theater, storytelling, and lectures. To instill pride and appreciation for the Gullah culture.” Informative, uplifting, humorous, tragic. Veronica Gaillard introduces the Gullah culture by becoming the dramatic characters and engaging the audience with participation.
Delighting audiences for many years, as an actor, storyteller, playwriter, director, and former drama teacher at Brentwood Middle School. Highlighting her career, she co-starred with the legendary actress Eartha Kit in the play “Souls/Calah.” She translates the English words into the Gullah Dialect for the play. For her performances and collaborations, she was presented the “Key to the City” of Columbia, South Carolina by the Mayor Bob Coble.
Highlights of her theatrical performances include storytelling for the Piccolo/Spoleto arts festival. Some of her written works that she produced and directed are “My Soul Gotta Seat in Liberty Hill,” “The Heights”, and “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. She is also a graduate of Benedict College in Columbia South Carolina and a retired employee of Charleston County School District. She is presently a resident storyteller at Boone Hall
