Known as Charleston’s Jazz Patriarch, Oscar Rivers is a Lowcountry legend who has captivated audiences for years. An inductee of the Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame, Oscar mastered the saxophone at a young age, starting his journey from Burke High School to South Carolina State College and then going on to earn his Master’s in Music at Chicago’s Roosevelt University.

With a career as a musician and music educator, Rivers has influenced the local jazz scene through unforgettable performances with many top artists such as and by mentoring young talent, leaving a lasting impact on the region’s music community.
