Charleston Poet Laureate A$iahMae, in partnership with the MOJA Arts Festival, presents Poetry in Focus: An Ekphrastic Love Letter to Film In Response to “Losing Ground.”
This evening assembles poets Queen Guillotine and TTruthSeeker The Poet, and experimental music duo Geechee Technologies in a collective celebration of Kathleen Collins’ landmark independent film, released in 1982.
When “Losing Ground” was re-issued in 2015 and screened at Lincoln Center as part of “Tell It Like It Is: Black Independents in New York, 1968 – 1986,” critic A.O. Scott noted in the New York Times, “This movie is fascinating — a puzzle and a marvel, eliciting wonder and provoking questions.”
