To celebrate the announcement of the MOJA Arts Festival’s 40th Anniversary season, the City of Charleston’s Community Services Section is hosting a family-friendly block party on Wednesday, June 19th from 6:00-9:00 pm on King & Ann Streets Downtown.
Juneteenth on King will feature outdoor dining, live music, dancing, and artisan and crafts vendors.
The festive celebration will have a music stage on Ann Street near the Visitor’s Center garage, hosting performers like The Legacy of Motown Band and Deninufay African Drum and Dance. Carolina Studios will be participating with their Mobile Studio Bus – an interactive environment in which kids can learn about recording and music.
The “Legacy of Motown Band” is a group that plays the best music from the Motown era. The band features songs from artists like The Temptations, The Four Tops, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores and many more. The highly talented group is composed by some of the most experienced R&B and Jazz musicians from the Charleston area.
