2021 Festival Poster

MOJA Festival 2021 remained a work-in-progress due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, with no paid admission events. Instead, MOJA presented poetry in the Dock Street Theatre courtyard with Alexandria Searles as part of the Free Verse Poetry Festival.

Musical offerings included a Babyface tribute program produced by Charles Miller, Psychodelics (Steamroller), Well Charged, Mystic Vibrations, Gino Castillo, Carl Bright, Anne Caldwell, and a special tribute to Jazz Musician Joey Morant. There was a Gullah takeover with Queen Quet that started on the College of Charleston Campus with dancing and drumming and proceeded to Anson and George Streets for an ancestral tribute.

We were thrilled to be able to have continued with MOJA in person in 2021, albeit in an alternate form. Poster art is “Procession” by Arianne King Comer and was designed by Marcus Amaker.
